Canary Wharf Supplementary School (CWSS), a Saturday supplementary school
open to all faiths, will be based at the Idea Store in Churchill Place in
order to provide supplementary help to children aged between 11 and 16 in
the core curriculum subjects of Maths, English and Science.  It is expected
to run on Saturday mornings term time from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., with its
first classes being held on Saturday 10th October 2009.

It is based on other existing successful models, where professionals provide
educational support and act as role models and mentors for the students who
wish to follow the same path.  In so doing, these professionals have an opportunity
to contribute to their local community as well as, we hope, positively influence the
next generation in terms of ambition, drive, motivation and aspirations.  What we often
see today is youngsters without any drive or aspiration, and our sincere hope is that
this initative is a tiny step in addressing these issues with the aim that these students
can aspire to become part of the next generation of young professionals who will work
in companies such as yours.

Our hope is that, you will wish to be part of this journey – which starts right on your
doorstep because you believe that giving back to your the community is the right thing
to do!! We already have 30 young professionals signed up to volunteer but still
need more.
